Commenting, Prompting, Filling Prompts, and Posting

The following is part of a guide to using the community.

Commenting

Commenting is easy! When prompting, you simply need to hit "post a new comment" to the post you are wanting to reply to. When filling, hit "reply to this" on the original poster's prompt comment. You can comment either anonymously, logged in, or with your OpenID if you have that. If you are logged into DreamWidth (DW) and want to comment anonymously, simply click on "more option" as shown below and you will be taken to a new page where the option is available. When commenting anonymously you may be asked to fill out a CAPTCHA.

When replying to a prompt that you are not filling, please leave the subject line as is. If you are replying to prompt with a fill, you may amend the subject line as shown above.

Prompting Rules
  • The subject line for you prompt should look similar to the example in the diagram above. Prompts should be labeled as 18+ where appropriate (when containing adult content). Other ratings may be included at the prompter's discretion.
  • Prompt subject lines should always include all appropriate trigger/content (tw/cw) warnings. See the community profile for a list of these.
  • Any prompt without an appropriate subject line or not labeled with required tw/cw warnings, will be screened, and replied to with a mod note to repost.
  • Prompts that violate the content guidelines will be deleted by a mod without warning. If you believe your prompt was deleted by mistake, you may PM a mod to discuss the issue.
  • Keep prompts to their appropriate posts. For example, don't post fic prompts under the icon prompts post.

Filling Rules
  • All fills should be posted as a direct reply to the original prompter.
  • Fills may be posted to an external site (such as your own journal, tumblr, ao3, etc) and posted as links to the content.
  • Certain types of fills, such as fics and icons, may be posted directly within the reply. This does not apply gifs or gifsets, these should be post externally and linked.
  • All graphics should be hosted externally and embedded in replies using simple html.
  • All fills should amend the beginning of the subject line to indicate that it is a fill. (Example: "Re: prompt, 18+, etc" becomes "FILL: prompt or title, 18+, etc")
  • Fill subject lines should always include all appropriate trigger/content (tw/cw) warnings. See the community profile for a list of these.
  • Any fill without an appropriate subject line or not labeled with required tw/cw warnings, will be screened, and replied to with a mod note to repost.
  • Fills that violate the content guidelines and are linked externally will be deleted by a mod without warning. Fills that violate the content guidelines and are posted within the reply (such as fics) will be screened with a note for reposting. If you believe your prompt was deleted or screened by mistake, you may PM a mod to discuss the issue.
  • Multiple fills are allowed.
  • If you decide you want to fill your own prompt, that is fine. However, once a prompt is posted, others are also allowed to fill it, even if you do so as well.
  • DW has a character limit of roughly 4-6k words or so. In rare cases where someone filling a fic prompt may need/want to internally post a fill larger than this, subsequent parts to the fic should be posted as a reply to the previous part.
Posting Rules
  • Content creators may use the community to promote their fics, icons, and certain other works.
    • Acceptable "certain other works" include content such as fan videos, resources such as headers for tumblr/twitter/etc, and series of graphics.
    • For instance, please do not clog up the community with a new post every time you post a new gifset to tumblr. However, if you you have started or finished a series of gifsets, moodboards, etc, you may promote that by posting an external link where that can be found (for example, a certain tag on your tumblr). Promo posts of this nature may be post twice, once either at the beginning or middle of posting, and again once you have finished.
  • All shared/promoted content must follow the content guidelines.
  • All shared/promoted content should be post externally and linked.
  • All members of the community have posting access, but most members' posts will be held for approval by a mod.
  • Some trusted members may be granted permission to post without their posts being held for approval. This permission can and will be evoked if a member posts content that violates the rules or content guidelines. Repeated violations will result in being banned from the community.
  • Be mindful and use cuts where appropriate.
  • All promo posts must be tagged appropriately, as follows.
    • All tags should be separated by commas, should be entirely lowercase, and should not include the quotation marks as follows
    • Fics should be tagged as "!fic" / icons as "!icons" / etc
    • Tag only major characters, when appropriate, and tag them as "char: name" and crossovers as "cross: title of crossover"
      • Examples: "char: clarke griffin" / "cross: doctor who" for a doctor who / the 100 crossover fic
    • Tag all major pairings involved in your work, including bellarke, and tag them as "pair: character/character" for pairs in romantic/sexual/etc relationships, and use "dyn: character/character" for other major character dynamics in your work (such as familial relationships, friends, etc). You are required to tag major pairs, but secondary pairs and dynamics will be be left to the poster's discretion.
      • WRT the "character/character" portion, characters should be list in alphabetically order by either first name or canon-common nicknames. For example, bellarke should be tagged as "pair: bellamy/clarke" while clurphy would be tagged as "pair: clarke/murphy"
    • Member should tag all of their posts as "user: name" and may choose to be known either by your most common username across platforms, your own first name, or by a nickname. However, all of your own posts should have the same user tag. Contact a mod if you need to change this tag at any time.
    • If you find this confusing, either visit the tags page for examples, or contact a mod for questions.
